Beirut – During a recent meeting at the Russian Embassy in Beirut, the Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Rudakov, and the Head of the Center for Asian and Chinese Studies(CACS), Dr. Haytham Mouzahem, engaged in a detailed discussion on several pressing global and regional issues. The topics of discussion included the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the recent hostilities in the Gaza Strip, and the dynamics of Russian-Arab and Russian-Lebanese relationships.

Ambassador Rudakov articulated Russia’s stance on the Ukraine conflict, framing it as a measure of defense for Russia’s borders, national security, and the protection of the Russian-speaking population in eastern Ukraine from what he described as a ‘Nazi Ukrainian regime.’

In the context of the Gaza Strip, the ambassador highlighted Russia’s advocacy for an immediate ceasefire and the urgent need for humanitarian and medical assistance, in line with the latest resolution passed by the United Nations General Assembly. He reiterated Russia’s support for the two-state solution as a pathway to establishing an independent Palestinian state.

Further, Ambassador Rudakov underscored Russia’s commitment to bolstering economic and trade cooperation with Lebanon. He also expressed concerns regarding the evolving situation along the Lebanese border with occupied Palestine, emphasizing the need for stability and peace in the region.
